The All New Mahindra Thar 5 Door which is to be launched on 15th August 2024 was leaked ahead of its launch. With new images spreading across the internet this morning, we are expecting to see certain design changes and a new set of features that Mahindra is providing in all its new car models.
The images that were leaked show the new front design elements, and another image shows minute details from the sides.
Mahindra Thar 5 Door: Latest Developments
From the leaked images, we can confirm that the new Thar 5 Door will be launched with a new grille design, which has been changed from the previous seven slots to six. Each slot is double stacked, unlike the earlier versions of Thar that we have seen before.
As we can see under the outside rearview mirrors, there is a camera present, which confirms that the new Thar will get a 360 degree camera setup. Also note that the rear door handle is placed on the side door frame, similar to what we have seen in previous generation Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Punch.
Mahindra Thar 5 Door: What We Do Know
As Mahindra is known for providing loads and loads of new features in their latest model of cars, we are expecting to see the same for the upcoming Thar 5 Door. The heavily camouflaged images of the Thar 5 Door, which were spied earlier, show that the SUV will be equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays. One of those displays will serve as an instrument cluster and the other one as an infotainment unit. We can also tell that the Thar 5 Door will get a panoramic sunroof and ADAS technology, depending on the variants.
The Mahindra Thar 5 Door will be offered with the same three engine options which we have also seen in the Thar 3 Door. A 1.5L Diesel, a 2.2L Diesel, or a 2.0L Petrol engine options with manual and automatic gearbox to choose from. The SUV will also be available with a 4 Wheel Drive setup along with the standard rear wheel drive, just like the current Thar.
Mahindra Thar 5 Door: Expected Launch Date
Mahindra revealed the 3 Door Thar on 15th August 2020. We believe Mahindra will also launch the 5 Door on the same date this year. The SUV’s production has already begun, and dealers are also accepting unofficial bookings, so it is assured that it is not far away. The New Thar is likely to be called the Mahindra Thar Armada and will rival the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It will also compete with other midsized SUVs such as Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, etc.
